Cookie Policy

Last Updated: October 2026

This policy explains how cookies are used on this website and other websites that link to this page and are made available by Veriground LLC and its affiliates (collectively, "Veriground," "we," or "us"). This policy may be amended or updated from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or changes in applicable law. We encourage you to read this policy carefully and regularly check this page to review any changes we may make. By using this site, you agree to our use of the cookies it needs to work, in accordance with the terms of this policy. We set optional cookies, for analytics and session recordings, only if you allow them (see section 5). If you do not wish to accept cookies from this site, please either disable cookies or refrain from using this site.

Veriground collects the information it needs to administer its websites and services. It shares information about visitors with the service providers named in this policy, as described here and in our privacy policy, and when the law requires. While Veriground believes that the information it stores is protected by appropriate security measures, there is a risk as with all computing activities that third parties might gain unauthorized access.

1. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text-only file of information that is sent or transferred to your device (such as your computer, smartphone or other web-enabled device) when you access a website. Cookies allow the website to recognise your device when you revisit and remember certain information about your prior visit such as which pages you visited, choices you made from menus, any specific information you entered into forms and the time and date of your visit. Among other things, cookies help us evaluate what parts of our websites are useful and which need improvement.

2. What types of cookies do we use?

The main types of cookies we use on our websites are:

Strictly necessary cookies (shown as "Required" in our cookie banner) allow the technical operation of our websites or apps (e.g., cookies that enable you to navigate a website or app, and to use its features). This site uses an authentication cookie to keep you signed in, for up to 30 days after your last visit unless you sign out, an anti-forgery cookie to protect forms from cross-site request forgery, and a cookie named vg_consent that remembers your cookie choices for about six months. The site and the charts it shows also keep display preferences, such as a chart's chosen view, in your browser's local storage. You may be able to disable some or all necessary cookies by adjusting your browser settings. If you choose to do so, however, you may experience reduced functionality or be prevented from using our websites or apps altogether.

Analytics cookies help us ensure that we understand our audience as clearly as possible, and that any information that is provided to you is as relevant as possible to your interests and preferences. Only if you allow them, we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for this purpose. They are off until you choose, and you can change your mind at any time with Cookie Settings. Clarity also records how visitors move through and interact with pages, in heatmaps and session recordings.

We do not show advertising on this site or set advertising cookies ourselves. Some third party cookies, described below, are set by the providers of the tools we use, who may use them for their own purposes under their own privacy policies. If our use of cookies changes in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

3. First party and third party cookies

Cookies can be set by the operator of the websites you visit or by third parties that may or may not have a relationship with that operator. First party cookies are set by the operator to gather information for use by the operator. For example, we set first party cookies for authentication and form protection.

If you allow analytics, this site uses Google Analytics to help collect and compile information like the number of visitors to our site, where visitors have come to the site from and the pages they visited. Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier for our property, which Google states last up to two years. Google explains how it uses information from sites like ours at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

If you allow session recordings, this site uses Microsoft Clarity to record how visitors interact with its pages, in heatmaps and session recordings. Clarity sets the first party cookies _clck and _clsk, and Microsoft sets the third party cookies CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID and SM, which Microsoft describes in its documentation. Clarity does not record what you type into form fields, and it sets no cookies if your browser blocks them. These cookies are governed by Microsoft's privacy statement.

This site shows maps from Google Maps, on the Where We Are page, in the region design tools and in some of the dashboard charts. Google may set its own cookies and receives your IP address when a map loads. These are third party cookies governed by Google's privacy policy.

The installer videos are embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set its own cookies or use similar technologies, particularly when you play a video. These are third party cookies governed by Google's privacy policy.

This site embeds content from Microsoft Power BI, which may set its own cookies. These are third party cookies governed by Microsoft's privacy policy.

Where this site allows third party cookies to be set or you access other websites from our site using the links provided, please note that these websites will use cookies in accordance with their own cookies policy which may differ from ours.

You may be able to block first and third party cookies through your browser settings.

4. Cookies and personal data

Some of our cookies may collect and store your personal data, such as your name, email address or IP address. We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and will ensure that personal data we collect is kept and treated in accordance with our privacy policy. For further details of how we process personal data, please refer to our privacy policy.

You choose which optional cookies we set. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics (Google Analytics) and session recordings (Microsoft Clarity). Neither is switched on until you say so. To change or withdraw your choice at any time, use Cookie Settings here or at the bottom of any page.

Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. However, you typically have the ability to disable cookies if you wish by changing your internet software browsing settings.

To manage your use of cookies there are various resources available to you. For example, the 'Help' section on your browser may assist you. You can also disable or delete the stored data used by technology similar to cookies, such as Local Shared Objects or Flash cookies, by managing your browser's 'add-on settings' or visiting the website of its manufacturer.

6. Veriground's other websites

Veriground also runs the weather network portal at app.veriground.net and the MeteoVg forecast lookup. They follow the same rules as this site. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics, and nothing optional is set until you say so. Each site keeps your choice in its own cookie named vg_consent, so you are asked once on each, and the Cookie Settings link on its pages changes or withdraws your choice there.

The only optional cookies on those sites are Google Analytics cookies, described in section 3 (_ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier for that site's property). They do not use Microsoft Clarity or session recordings. The portal also sets the cookies it needs to keep team members and customers signed in and to protect its forms, and, like this site, keeps display preferences in your browser's local storage. Its maps come from Google Maps, as described in section 3.
